![]() Scouts & Parents,
I
hope everyone is enjoying the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday and that
Scouts take a moment to reflect on what a profound effect he had on
society. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent
and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" Very
Scouting-related, and a good question for Scouts (and all of us) to be
asking.
We
had a great winter Camp this weekend--Scouts had the opportunity to
earn merit badges and test their endurance sleeping out in the cold!
We spent many hours in the warm dining hall. There are many other great
events coming up, and the Hampden-Sydney Merit Badge College is one of them. You won't want to miss this merit badge opportunity.
Also, be sure to sign up for the Peak Experiences event January 31. We need some parents to come help with Boards of Review next week on January 25th. Please let me know whether you will be able to help out--we have several Scouts that can advance at our upcoming Court of Honor. Here is some information about Boards of Review. February 8th is Scout Sunday--this year, it falls on the anniversary of the date Scouting in America was founded! This is going to be a big event for the Troop because we are really having three events in one: Scout Sunday, a Court of Honor, and an Eagle Ceremony for 6 young men from Troop 770 who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout! Please sign up to bring a dish to the luncheon following church. David Bernhardt, Scoutmaster | Troop 770 |
